Kathak is one
of the most important classical dances of India. Kathak daid to be delived from
the work Katha. There were Kathakars or bards who used to recite religious
& mythological tales to the accompaniment music, Mime & dance.
Under the influence of persion & Muslim traditions Kathak dance assumed the
form of courtly entertainment under the patronge of medievat rulers &
nawabs a class of dancing girls & Courtessans Kathak a distinct texture.
Thus, with the time of Kathakar went on changing its form & Character. This
change was also reflected in the dress of Kathak dance.
